Serving Guide

  • Portions are based on a 1” x 1“ slice from a four layered cake. This sizing is standard for celebration cakes and helps ensure you get the maximum number of servings for your event.

  • A dessert portion contains 4 layers of cake per slice.

  • A cocktail portion is a dessert portion cut in half, therefore only 2 layers of cake per slice.

  • This is a guide only and the number of serves per cake can vary depending on the person cutting.

Cake Serving Tips

My single-tier cakes are approx 5-6 inches tall so it’s important to use a long flat-bladed knife longer than the height of the cake. this will make slicing much easier and help keep your portions neat.

A hot knife makes cutting tall cakes significantly easier.

If you have access to a kettle and heat proof container, fill it with boiling water. Dip the knife into the hot water, then wipe it clean between each slice.  If this isn’t available, running hot tap water over the blade and wiping it with a clean cloth or kitchen towel works well too.

Using a cutting board to lay each slice flat before dividing into portions is much easier than to cut individual servings while the cake is upright.

Care Guide

Place your cake on the floor of an airconditioned car, never on a seat. The floor is flat and stable, helping prevent the cake from sliding or tilting during transport.

Carry your cake box from underneath to support the full weight of the cake. Avoid squeezing the sides of the box as this can damage the cake inside.

Transportation

Cake Storage

Your cake is delicate, and just like us, if it gets too warm it can start to sweat or even melt. To keep it looking and tasting its best, store you cake in the fridge until it’s nearly time to serve.
For ideal flavour and texture, remove your cake from the fridge 1 hour before serving. Your cake’s best flavour is at room temperature.

Presentation

Please keep your cake out of direct sunlight and away from any sources of heat. Always ensure your display table or cake stand is level and stable to keep your cake safe throughout your event.
